Kathie's Herbal Perfume

What could be more refreshing after your nice warm bath than a great smelling after bath splash! The herb books are FULL of great bath splashes and perfumes, and for the men: aftershaves! This month, if you'ld like, you can try your hand at making a after-bath splash that is lightly scented, (not over-powering to the point that you wonder what odor the perfume is hiding!) and cooling, so it is good even after sunning in the upcoming summer heat! I started mine about three weeks ago (second week in May) and I will probably strain it yet today for I think the odor is just about right! Another thing about doing this is: because I am making this at this time of year-I clean out stock items, like mint, so my stock stays fresher with this years herbs. YOU CAN MAKE THIS WITH FRESH HERBS AND IT ACTUALLY TURNS OUT BETTER!! (The volitile oils are fresher).
Keep in mind that in the beggining stages of this splash, it really doesn't have an odor that says ooo-la-la. Give it time to "brew", and even after that, I let mine set in the refrigerator, and it even get BETTER over time! It does smell nice even after the three weeks, and it doesn't have to be kept in the 'frig-(I've kept it both in and out-it does not spoil)-but by keeping it in the 'frig, when you "mist" it on-it is most refreshing!
So, follow this simple recipe (this is doubled for I use it alot--cut in half if you'ld like), be patient--and, although you CAN DRINK IT, refrain yourself!

1 cup lavender flowers (the greens can be used, too)
1 cup rosemary
1 cup mint..any kind will do
Peel of 1 lemon and 1 orange
4 cups water to which 20-25 drops of essential rose oil is added
4-5 cups of VODCA
This will all fit into a gallon glass jar. Let it set for a couple of weeks-stirring one a day. If after a week, you don't smell the roses a bit, then add a few more drops of essential oil. Strain well, put into mister bottle, and enjoy after baths, or swimming, or sunning. I think it is truley refreshing! You can also add lavender essential oil if you are using this after sunning, for the lavender oil is great for revitilizing damaged skin. Let me know if you try this recipe. The herb combination can be changed for your own unique fragrance. Have fun!
